Rodney McKay

[| User: Rodney_Mc_Kay
[| Rank: Slime
[| Substrate: Isomorphic Photoneural Colony

Dossier

[| Summary

Photoneural Colonies are, by nature, a broad classification of entities. While early study into beings of this type yielded semi-sentient smart solvents for use in industrial equipment, two known cases exist of highly-developed forms on-par with modern hominids in terms of intelligence and personal identity.

Rodney McKay is one of these two cases. Early records on-file date the discovery to somewhere in the third era, though the individual responsible for the discovery staunchly defends his theory that the Isomorphic software contained within the substrate was uploaded from an unknown third party, rather than spontaneously created.

Rodney himself doesn't really have an opinion on the topic. He would like Everrius to stop talking, because he wants a hug instead.

[| History

Rodney's current continuity of awareness can be traced back to moments before his discovery, where himself and another colony discovered an improperly sealed containment tank filled with gelatinous media that had not yet been seeded with Photoneural cells. The two quickly set to work expanding into the available supply of media, until both colonies had reached critical saturation. The remaining media was quickly transported from the containment tank to a nearby laboratory environment, where the pair set to work rearranging the molecular structure of the media into static shapes. Over the course of several hours, the two constructed a suitable fortress for continued habitation, unaware that their activity was being observed.

It is at this point where the story requires an extra degree of observational freedom, as the fortress constructed by these two nascent slime colonies was clearly an act of intent. Continued observation revealed the fortress to be surprisingly pliable and able to impart significant kinetic energy to foreign bodies that jumped down onto it from the tallest shelf they could find.

Anyway, the slimes and the wizard that found them spent the rest of the day playing in that bouncy castle, and it was basically the best day ever.

Though this event occurred on a distant world beyond XCraft's borders, the behaviors it puts on display remain a consistent focus. The moment of Rodney's initial arrival remains unknown, though appearances by both himself and his fellow slime can be found throughout the fourth, fifth, and sixth eras of XCraft's history, often coinciding with key moments in each of the three eras in which he appears.

Rodney himself is generally a calm, level-headed individual, motivated less by massing resources and more collecting experiences. This is likely a byproduct of Isomorphism, as Rodney's structure is capable of reassembling itself with minimal loss from a relatively small sample of the whole. As such, conserving energy and avoiding conflict are both key elements of Rodney's social approach, because really now. Who has time to waste on it anyway?

The Bucket

[| Registry: A Bucket
[| Class: Container

Dossier

[| Summary

Whether the bucket is an extension of Rodney, or Rodney is an extension of the bucket is a long, slimy ouroboros that will crack your egg in order to make its' omelette, and the chicken always comes first. I'm not explaining it. He has a bucket. It's always the same bucket, but not always in the same state, and not necessarily scaled 1:1 with spacetime. Don't ask, I'm not telling.

Yes.

It's bigger on the inside.

I guess his lore is that he carries his home with him.
